Not got a Valentine This Year? Look No Further
It’s February, and soon enough Valentine’s Day will be upon us, but normally as a single individual, I wouldn’t typically go out of my way to make a post about it.
Valentine’s isn’t always for everyone, even for some who are happily in a relationship, others see it as another money making scheme by marketers & retailers, however, I came across this great group which are using Valentine’s Day for more than just love and couples, instead to build connections with strangers.
Now hear me out, you don’t have to go and meet people in person, It’s not an event that you have to leave your house for… no, all you have to do is fill out the form, either make your own Valentine’s Card, or print the one they supply, and then wait to be told the address you are sending it too, and post it. Basically it’s a card exchange with strangers. It’s completely free to sign up, but you can donate to the charity if you would like to help out!
I think it’s such a great idea, and a nice way to reach out to other singletons (or taken individuals). There are no rules to who can sign up, and all you have to do is go to post your card, (or if you’re lazy I guess you could use moonpig or funkypigeon). It’s a great act of kindness, and you could always sign up someone you know gets lonely around this time of year. It was set up by a charity for Mental Health, the founder believes simple gestures such as this can have a positive impact on people’s well being, helping to foster a sense of belonging and to reduce isolation.
So if you think you’d love to feel good this Valentine’s Day, and also get your own card from someone you’ve never met, sign up here. The form will close on 4th February, so you only have 2 more days to get it in.
If you fancy getting something more than a card, why don’t you treat yourself? You can always get yourself some lovely flowers, or a spa day?
