My Trip to Portugal

Hello all,

Back again with a brand new post! If you follow me on my socials you’ll probably have seen I was away in Portugal visiting my dad for a few days, so this post is dedicated to that. It was only a short trip so there wasn’t a huge time to relax, but I look forward to being able to visit for longer next time.

One of the restaurant’s I visited while out there was great so I’d thought I’d give them a little review as a thanks for a great visit. So if anyone is visiting the Algarve, make sure to make a stop and go visit Moon Algarve in Vila Sol. More details about it below.

I was staying in a touristy area of the Algarve about 20 mins from Faro. I got to tour the area and visited a few places. It was the first weekend in Portugal where the temperature picked up to the high 20’s so I was glad to be there, while it was raining and cloudy here in London.

I arrived in the evening and went for dinner before heading to my dad’s villa for a good nights rest. We had dinner at Restaurante Moon’s in Vila Sol, which was lovely and definitely the best food I had all holiday. The restaurant staff were lovely and very friendly and welcoming, even though I was fresh off the plane and really not in the right attire for the restaurant’s aesthetic.

I had two lovely fish courses, caught in the local area that tasted amazing. The fish melted in the mouth and I still believe it was one of the best fish courses I’ve had. I also helped myself to a bellini and a few other cocktails which were all super tasty! It felt like a home away from home, and the food was equivalent to top London restaurants.

Overall I could not recommend it more, it’s a great little spot, with great views and a lovely interior. Check out their website here. Whether you fancy some cocktails before socialising or want to enjoy a lovely meal.

The next day I visited the local beach and then had lunch while looking out at the view. We came back to the villa and enjoyed some sun until dinner time, where we headed out before sunset to the beach for a few drinks and then headed to the Cheeky Pup in Quinta do Lago for dinner and more drinks. The Cheeky Pup is an Irish gastro pub, and I don’t think I’ve ever been surrounded by more Irish people in my life, except for when I’ve visited Ireland.

My dad also bumped into some people he knew from Ireland, what a small world! It was a great pub, with some lovely hanging lights, and a live band from 10pm playing some Irish tunes. It was a great evening and again lovely food. Also loads of good looking waiters and bar staff. Visit their website here.

The next day, we had some breakfast and headed out to the local port. We had a walk around and then had lunch with a view. Then we headed to look at some of the resident areas nearby to look at some of the crazy huge villas that were being built or completed.

That evening we headed to Maria’s for sunset and then enjoyed dinner there, in the packed restaurant. Which had lovely cocktails and food, and was hugely popular with tourists.

That takes me to the end of my trip. I enjoyed my few days in Portugal and look forward to getting to visit again where I can relax a bit more and work on my tan. (Safely of course with plenty of suncream)

I’ve had a few ideas of places I’d like to visit on my next trip down there. But for now, I’m in London waiting for the weather to get nicer.

Hope you enjoyed this little read, and consider visiting the Algarve on your next getaway, it really is lovely. The food is great, and the views are unreal.

Anyway, I’ll see you for the next post. Bye for now
